Stop Abandoning Your Ideas! #CONTENTGOLD

Issue #009

Hey dude!

Have you ever gotten an idea, wrote it down, and planned on eventually acting on it but never did?

Or you completely forgot it and...

*Plot Twist*

Soon after you see someone you know, or someone on social media, doing the EXACT same idea you may or may not have put in your notes app 5 weeks ago?

Yeah same lol.

This has happened to me with my art ideas wayyy too many times for it to be a coincidence!

Abandoning Content Ideas
For My Art

I often use reference pictures to draw or paint. And when I come across pictures I want to use for inspiration, I'll save them in my photos.

I'd think to myself, "I'll work on this drawing idea over the weekend!"

But then a few days, weeks, and, sometimes, months will go by. Then I'll see one of my favorite artists on Instagram show their work-in-progress of a new piece.

And, lo and behold, it's the same portrait image I saved just last week!

"I was going to draw that!... eventually" is what I'd think to myself.

I'd easily feel offended as if they personally snuck into my mind and literally stole my idea.

But I knew I was in the wrong for abandoning my ideas.

This reminded me of a Michael Jackson quote I read when he was preparing for his comeback tour in 2009, right before he passed.

A Lesson From Michael Jackson

He was an extraordinary man who came up with amazing, creative ideas for his performances.

He struggled with falling asleep at night, but apparently that was the time he would get those ideas.

So one night, he got this idea to recreate one of the largest waterfalls (Victoria Falls in South Africa) on stage.

He presented it to some of the team members he worked with.

Kenny Ortega, the director, tried to talk him out of it.

But Michael said:

"You don't understand. If I’m not there to receive these ideas, God might give them to Prince."

(If you didn't know, Michael Jackson and Prince had an ongoing rivalry at one point in their music careers.)

Reflecting back on this really hit home!

What Michael said makes 100% sense and backs up what I've experienced as a creative person.

If I don't pursue the ideas I get, God will give them to someone else.

So The Lesson In All Of This Is:

  • The ideas you abandon and procrastinate on WILL be given to someone else who'll bring it to life.

What you have to offer in this world is NEEDED.

So when you don't see to it that your ideas, gifts, knowledge and talent are being shared with the world, you can bet your bottom dollar someone else will.

Remember, great minds think alike.

So there's no guarantee your mind, notes app, diary, or vault will hold back the creative ideas this world needs.

From one creator to another...

Please stop abandoning your ideas.

This week I hope you decide to take action on at least one idea you've been holding off on.

And feel free to reach out to me if you want to talk about it.

That's all for this week!

Talk soon,

Kyra

Hey dude! Let me tell you about a lesson I learned over the weekend. You have to subtract...before you add! 😂 My math isn't correct according to PEMDAS but stay with me! I went clothes shopping on Black Friday. I'm not the type to participate in Black Friday, but I've recently lost weight so I had to get new clothes. I'm a "this will do" type of person when it comes to clothes. Most of my clothes are "functional" rather than fashionable, black (probably because I'm a photographer), and I've...
