Are You Ready? It's Time To Make Room For The New ✨| CONTENT GOLD #017

Hey dude!

Let me tell you about a lesson I learned over the weekend.

You have to subtract...before you add! 😂 My math isn't correct according to PEMDAS but stay with me!

I went clothes shopping on Black Friday.

I'm not the type to participate in Black Friday, but I've recently lost weight so I had to get new clothes.

I'm a "this will do" type of person when it comes to clothes.

Most of my clothes are "functional" rather than fashionable, black (probably because I'm a photographer), and I've never liked shopping for clothes because I was chubby growing up and I couldn't fit the clothes I really wanted.

Before Fashion Nova and Shein, there wasn't a huge variety of cute clothes for bigger girls when I was in high school.

So right now, I don't even bother to touch about 60% of the clothes in my closet and drawers.

I've gotten to the point where I've poked too many holes in my belt for it to not be noticeable when I put it on.

It's a little ghetto but I'm serious when I say I don't like shopping!

Side Note: What's your opinion on High-Waisted Jeans? I had a few pairs, but I DESPISE them now 😅

So when I got back home, I cut the tags off of so I could either wash them or put them away.

I folded them and when I opened my closet I realized, "I don't have any room for these."

There's no room for the new stuff because I didn't remove the old stuff beforehand.

In a way, there was something poetic about this 1st world problem I was having lol

Very symbolic for a lot of us in life. We want new things.

Sometimes we NEED new things.

But we don't remove the old to make room for the new because "I might need it again someday," or "I can still get a few more uses out of it."

Whatever the case may be, I'm sure you have something you need to throw out that's getting in the way of the new things in your life. Whether that be:

  • Habits
  • Beliefs
  • People
  • Clothes
  • Excuses
  • Insecurities
  • Your Mindset
  • Food in the Fridge
  • Old ways of thinking
  • Things That Waste Your Time
  • Or Physical Objects That Take Up Space In Your Home

No Actionable Tip for This Week

I think you know what you need to do friend lol

Out with the old, in with the new! Whatever it may be.

That's all for this week!

Talk soon,

Kyra

P.S. I did get a new belt 😁

❗️UPDATED EMAIL❗️ The formatting of the last email was all messed up, I am so sorry! We had some technical difficulties 😂 Here's how it's supposed to look: Dear Photographer (and Creative), Whether you consider yourself a photographer or not, pleeease take photos of EVERYONE you love. I laid my father to rest last month. I spent 2 weeks designing his funeral program. Mostly because the design options that the funeral director showed us were ugly 😂 Here's how it turned out. I also spent those...

Know what your skill level is, and be real with yourself. A great way to do this is to look up 5 photographers in your niche and compare your skill level to their skill level. Not in a degrading way, but analyze and be honest about where you are as a photographer—beginner, intermediate, or professional. And then charge...

Pricing Series: Pt. 1 Let’s talk about how to NOT be the cheapest photographer on the block Definition of 'cheap': Low in price Inexpensive Depreciated in value Of inferior quality or worth Examples of Cheap Behavior: Charging $250 for a 2-hour photoshoot and 30 edited photos Going over time in a photoshoot and not charging the client extra (guilty! 🖐🏽) Editing a photo 3 more times when the client asks for more revisions, and you don't charge them enough or charge them at all Matching or...
