Hey dude,
Let's talk about passion!
Everyone is passionate about something.
And if you're not passionate about anything, I would put "not yet" at the end of that sentence because we all eventually have something that gets us fired up!
But it can get complicated when the thing you love to do now has the responsibility of making you money.
Passion is beautiful.
It’s the fire that drives us in our work.
It keeps us up late at night with excitement.
It gives us a sense of fulfillment when pursued.
And it can be a financial blessing when it's our career.
Navigating this junction of passion and financial responsibility can be quite an adventure, but it’s also a chance to turn your dreams into reality.
If you're thinking about taking that leap of faith to chase your dreams, understand that there are NO RULES.
You can be strategic and plan to quit your job in 3 months after saving up.
Or you can quit tomorrow and start building that YouTube channel, business, or whatever it is you want to pursue.
I did the latter and was very impulsive in my art and photography endeavors!
But I've learned a lot, and I have an amazing business partner who helps me stay focused when I see "squirrels" (i.e. distractions, shiny object syndrome, etc.)
So I want to give you 3 things I've learned in my 6 years of entrepreneurship.
You don't NEED a plan, but it's always helpful to think in advance and set your intentions.
I would always overdo it with planning and strategizing, and hurt my own feelings when I didn't accomplish them.
Remember that book "REWORK" I told you I was reading?
There's a chapter in there called "Planning Is Guessing" that says:
I could honestly just copy and paste the whole chapter here because every single sentence is GOLD. Amazing little nuggets.
McDonald's could never. Lol
The proper term for this is to "diversify your income" or "have multiple streams of income."
Here's how I do it with art:
It'll also gauge you in the direction of what the "demand" is for your work.
Alright, this might not be as exciting as getting that perfect shot, but it’s crucial.
Learn the financial stuff.
Taxes
Savings
Budgeting
Book-Keeping
It’s all part of the game.
The better you are at managing your finances, the more you can enjoy creating what you're passionate about without worrying about the bills.
Balancing your passion and making a living from it might seem like walking a tightrope, but it’s doable.
Remember, your passion is the secret sauce. Don't minimize or waiver to other people's opinions.
Embrace it, nurture it, create boundaries, have personal projects that are just for yourself, and let it lead you to a future where you’re not just chasing your dreams...but living them!
Get out there, hustle, and make your passion pay the bills. Your journey is going to be a rollercoaster.
So enjoy the ride!
Stay inspired and get that shmoney,
Love you friend!

Hey dude! Let me tell you about a lesson I learned over the weekend. You have to subtract...before you add! 😂 My math isn't correct according to PEMDAS but stay with me! I went clothes shopping on Black Friday. I'm not the type to participate in Black Friday, but I've recently lost weight so I had to get new clothes. I'm a "this will do" type of person when it comes to clothes. Most of my clothes are "functional" rather than fashionable, black (probably because I'm a photographer), and I've...
Hey dude! Do you ever hear people online say "You have to give lots of valuable content to grow on social media!" but you have no idea what to post about in the first place? Yeah, I've dealt with that a lot. Enough times to know what the solution is! It all starts with your personal brand. A personal brand is your reputation (i.e. the thing you're known for). It's also: The personality behind your content The reason why people follow you What makes people buy from you A successful brand stems...
