Don't Settle This Year

Don't Settle

"When you are full, you will not even eat honey. When you are hungry, even something bitter tastes sweet."

- Proverbs 27:7

Happy Monday!

I wanted to share some things that came to mind after reading the Proverb at the top.

The satisfaction we all desire to have as creatives is to:

  • Do work we enjoy
  • Work with our ideal clients/customers
  • And make more than enough money to pay our bills (at least)

But also, as a human being, we feel the most fulfilled when serving other people.

Especially with the things we're good at.

Once you get to this point in your career, you'll turn down even high-paying projects if they don't satisfy you!

But when you're hungry for photography clients, you'll settle for cheap clients and projects you really don't want to take on.

So how do we become satisfied, fulfilled photographers (or creatives)?

Questions to reflect on:

What am I passionate about that I can combine with my love for photography?

What problems can I solve with my camera (or skill, talent, etc.)?

How bad do I want this?

Who do I want to help?

Your passion fuels your skills.

Specialize what you're good at.

Be a problem solver and offer more than "just photos."

Be ambitious and diligent in your pursuit for more in photography and life.

Talk soon,

Kyra

P.S. I'll be expanding into broader topics than just photography moving forward. We'll talk about topics such as:

  • Christ
  • Content
  • Creativity
  • Consistency

I'm so excited!

What are some things you'd like to hear more about in the newsletter?

Hit reply and let me know!

❗️UPDATED EMAIL❗️ The formatting of the last email was all messed up, I am so sorry! We had some technical difficulties 😂 Here's how it's supposed to look: Dear Photographer (and Creative), Whether you consider yourself a photographer or not, pleeease take photos of EVERYONE you love. I laid my father to rest last month. I spent 2 weeks designing his funeral program. Mostly because the design options that the funeral director showed us were ugly 😂 Here's how it turned out. I also spent those...

Pricing Series: Pt. 2 How To Charge The Right Price Today we’re going over what you should be charging for your photography…with REAL numbers to go off of. Before we jump in... Know what your skill level is, and be real with yourself. A great way to do this is to look up 5 photographers in your niche and compare your skill level to their skill level. Not in a degrading way, but analyze and be honest about where you are as a photographer—beginner, intermediate, or professional. And then charge...

Pricing Series: Pt. 1 Let’s talk about how to NOT be the cheapest photographer on the block Definition of 'cheap': Low in price Inexpensive Depreciated in value Of inferior quality or worth Examples of Cheap Behavior: Charging $250 for a 2-hour photoshoot and 30 edited photos Going over time in a photoshoot and not charging the client extra (guilty! 🖐🏽) Editing a photo 3 more times when the client asks for more revisions, and you don't charge them enough or charge them at all Matching or...
