The Fastest Way to Be Great at Anything| #CONTENTGOLD

Hey y'all!

Quick Life Update:

  1. I cut my hair last week.
  2. I was having a pretty boring workday in the studio (editing photos all day), but I felt like “romanticizing” my life by taking pictures of my surroundings. Which then turned into #3.
  3. I pondered on the idea that everything I share and post doesn't have to be my “best work.”

Here's what I posted that day:

There's nothing special about these photos, but here's what I got out of taking and posting them:

Productivity: I can say I posted something that day.

Repurposing: I can repurpose these photos in future content.

Perspective: What I find boring is great content to someone else.

Gratitude: I felt even more grateful for my studio and what I have.

Creativity & Enjoyment: It felt like a treasure hunt! I had to find the #contentgold

The Fastest Way to Be Great at Anything

The idea of "sharing only our best work" has been an unspoken rule the majority of us have followed since childhood.

This is nonsense because the people who go against the grain by sharing the good and bad work they create are the ones who become successful in their field.

In terms of content creation, posting bad or sub-par content as well as amazing content is also how people become successful in the creator economy.

I believe this is why TikTok exploded in popularity and surpassed Instagram in terms of speed-platform growth. TikTok was welcoming to all kinds of content.

People were able to post their weird and unpolished videos...and still go viral!

But on other platforms, like Instagram, the standard for viral content heavily depended on aesthetics.

As if it were a popularity contest in high school.

Well, none of that makes sense because the math for progression in our lives says otherwise:

This formula works in all areas of life!

Here are some examples:

  • Bob Ross made "Happy Accidents" on live television.
  • You have to practice playing an instrument when you're really bad, so you can get good.
  • We have to go to the gym consistently, on the good and bad days, to see results.
  • Sales books and the gurus say to focus on getting more no's to get closer to the YES!
  • Mr. Beast and Gary Vee talk frequently about showing up consistently and posting bad content frequently because this is how you start to develop great content.

So Here's an Actionable Tip for You This Week:

  • Create the content you need to make.
  • Then POST IT, whether it's good or bad!
  • Do this as frequently as you can. Whether you have to batch create your content, create the night before, or if you only have 5 minutes in your day to create.

Post the bad stuff. Because the more bad stuff you create, the closer you get to creating brilliant work!

THIS is the fastest way to get better at anything.

Content Challenge

I'm doing a solo challenge where I follow my own advice.

I made a list of prompt ideas to make content for the next 15 days.

The challenge is to ignore the fact that it's bad or sub-par work and just post it lol.

If you'd like to join me, respond to this email, and I'll send you my list!

That's all for this week.

Talk soon!
